Tell us a little bit about you what you do.

I look after the recruitment for trusts, company secretarial and compliance professionals in the corporate governance team at Star Anise.

How did you get into recruitment? Did you always want to be a recruiter?

After I graduated, I started to look at marketing and recruitment related jobs. The marketing role that I applied for gave me an offer first so I took that opportunity and began as a Marketing Assistant. After a year I was promoted to a more senior position, but I had always wanted to explore the recruitment industry so I decided to leave my Marketing position and give the role of a recruiter a try!

What are the top 3 things you love about what you do?

  • Networking with clients and candidates, and building strong relationships with existing and new clients and candidates.
  • Being rewarded for your achievements.
  • Independence and flexibility – working independently means I can manage my time better and I know I'm responsible for my own actions.

What’s the biggest challenge you face as a recruiter?

There are a lot of ups and downs in this role, things can change in just a blink of an eye. It is a fast moving industry with a lot of external factors that can affect the recruitment process. A strong mentality is very important.

How would your colleagues describe you?

Outgoing, helpful and a great sense of humour!

What do you like to do to unwind outside of the office?

I am a foodie! I love to explore and try new restaurants, before recommending them to my friends. I also love outdoor activities like hiking. I’m into Korean culture and I have been learning Korean for a few months already.

Restaurant (& item on the menu)

I’m a big fan of Sichuan and Western cuisines.

I listen to a lot of songs, English pop songs, Canto pop, K-pop and Japanese songs.

Holiday destination...

Lake Tekapo and Queenstown in New Zealand.

A good piece of Lava cake.

Biggest pet peeve?

Travel by car for long hours.

Three items on your bucket list:

  • Travel around the world!
  • I would love to visit countries like Tibet and Xinjiang
  • Backpacking! I think it’d be a very exciting and fun experience
