Making The Move

Moving jobs is something you have been thinking about for some time. And now is the time to get active. Having seen a Star Anise advertisement or visited our website, you respond to an advertisement we've placed, or you send your CV via our "quick job" function on the home page. 

Candidate Understanding

A confidential consultant interview is arranged with you to learn more about your work history, the strengths in your pervasive skills and your aspirations. This is a critical stage of the process in order to align the client’s needs.

Expert Guidance and strategy Formulation

Often, candidates might be at a cross roads in their career and are not sure which direction to go in. Others are clearer in their minds but are not sure of the market trends and market rates for roles that could be suitable for them. Working in close consultation with a Star Anise recruiter helps reduce the fears and questions. Once we understand your aims, we can help guide you on how to progress your career. 
 

Job search and shortlist

Once we have met you, a database job search can be conducted on our active assignments and we would consult with you on these vacancies. Some roles might be confidential, meaning they may not necessarily be advertised publicly. By registering with Star Anise, you would also gain access to those ‘hidden’ jobs.  

Following the consultant’s discussion with you, and with your consent, we will make a formal submission to the client of your CV. Some employers may require transcripts and certificates at this stage (particularly for junior level applicants) so have these ready to send in PDF.

Interview

Your consultant will notify you if you have been invited to an employer interview. At each stage of the interview process, or where you haven’t been selected to proceed to the next stage, we will endeavour to obtain constructive feedback on your application. Likewise, we would seek feedback from you of your interview experience which we can pass on to the client.

Offer management and placement

If an offer is forthcoming this will usually be expressed as principle or headline terms, subject to contract. We will guide you on the negotiation package and communicate with both parties to bridge their expectations on the terms of offer.  Working with all parties we will assist the discussions through to a successful conclusion.

Negotiating the terms of offer is a highly sensitive and a critical stage of the process – a misunderstanding of any message conveyed (or delay in, or total lack of, communication from either side) can result in a total breakdown in the negotiation process.

Our expert consultants can give you guidance to ensure a smooth process at every step of the way and reach a successful conclusion to offer and acceptance.

Transition

Often in the case where you are currently employed you will have a notice period to serve. Your dedicated consultant will keep in regular contact with you and update you on any developments with your new employer. We will also request any additional information or documents from you which are requested by your new employer (such as referee details and transcripts, certificates and other personal information to set up your employee file with the client).

Post Placement and on-boarding

We provide ongoing pastoral care to help ensure you are settling into your new role quickly and with minimal fuss.

Where you have any concerns regarding your new role or organisation, your dedicated consultant is at hand to listen and gain an understanding of your concerns.

The earlier your consultant knows of these concerns, the earlier he or she can help resolve these matters before they become a serious issue.
