How to seek clarity and run your business with confidence

Here's a question for executive directors, business owners, and start-up founders everywhere.

How often do you face critical business situations and you have no one to share it with? I don’t mean what marketing trend you follow in two seasons’ time, or which supplier to use.

I mean BIG dilemmas of a legal, risk, regulatory or strategic nature.

Are you the key decision-maker with no one to confide in? If so, who’s asking you:

  • Are you making the right choices?

  • How do you weigh up the options?

  • What are the headline issues you face and what are the consequences?

  • Are there other options to consider?

  • Do you have the time, the experience or desire, to handle a delicate situation that could lead to litigation?

If you're faced with the above questions regularly, what would it be worth to you in terms of saved time and stress if you had one hour of an experienced lawyer’s time each month to help guide you on the above?

Just one hour a month where you:

  • offload high level business issues in complete confidence

  • get a third person’s perspective from someone who isn’t bogged down with your business and can give you clarity

  • save yourself enormous stress with handling big issues on your own

  • are alerted to potential corporate governance issues that you may have been ignorant of

  • confide in someone with strong knowledge of legal frameworks and give you practical, sensible solutions

  • can make a difference between moving a situation to a commercial agreement and fruitful businss relationship or moving it to a long and expensive court battle

  • can better understand the legal or regulatory impact of negotiated commercial points before you even get to the first draft of a contract

  • figure out a problem that could lead to litigation and advise the board on the practical options to de-escalate

  • develop a strategy to resolve a dispute and save you time and expense to litigate

That's just one hour. Per month.

Or for any number of hours you feel you need per month.

Not only that, one hour per month with someone who was a partner or counsel/legal director at an international law firm or a GC, Head of Legal or senior in-house counsel of a major listcos or MNC, all of whom have had distinguished legal careers in the commercial field; most who are common law or US-qualified lawyers. And at a budget that will surprise you. Further, the cost would be sales tax / VAT free because we’re a Hong Kong entity.

In its simplist form, they are your strategic business counsellor with world-class legal credentials, your trusted advisor and coach.

For those businesses who have an in-house legal team, sometimes you might want that third person's perspective or an added edge to your decision making. It's lonely at the top, after all.

It’s an idea I’m developing via our Yuzu brand, and am very passionate about as our business evolves, because it truly enables business owners and senior decision-makers to have just the right amount of support to enable them to make informed business decisions efficiently and decisively.

And it helps utilise a growing workforce of lawyers who have some time to utilise and put to good use.
