Gearing up for Legal Week Corporate Counsel Forum 2016

For the 5th year in a row, Star Anise Legal is delighted to announce their sponsorship of this key annual event for senior in-house counsels in Hong Kong, organised by Legal Week.  In addition to being a leading international publication on legal practice news for law firms and in-house lawyers, Legal Week also organises forums for in-house counsels internationally across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Just like with last year, I will moderate a discussion by a panel of eminent General Counsel speakers.

This year’s topic will cover the topic of pro bono and community service volunteering.  Ever since we interviewed some top tier law firm associates who provide pro bono advice to the Justice Centre, our interest in this area has really grown. It's been a real eye opening experience, working with Justice Centre Hong Kong, and talking with in-house counsels on their pro bono efforts. Star Anise Legal also advertised a job for the Justice Centre on a pro bono basis. 

Over the past year, I have also had the opportunity to provide community service volunteering via my school age childrens’ participation in various volunteering opportunities which has been both rewarding and insightful for all participants.

I’ve also discussed pro bono and community service opportunities with various NGO’s and charities.  In addition, I have interviewed the General Counsel speakers about their involvement in charities and community services. I am also currently exploring skills based volunteering opportunities which I can highlight for interested volunteers at a later stage especially since I noticed a number of lawyer profiles on Linked-In expressing an interest in providing skills based volunteering.
