Beach clean up: Star Anise staff dig in to keep Hong Kong clean!

For the last CSR event of 2019, the team at Star Anise spent a day to volunteer and clean up one of Hong Kong's beautiful and popular beaches — Shek O Beach.

More than 11,000 plastic bottles were collected on Hong Kong beaches in the past year, and the aim of this event was to increase awareness of waste management and littering among our staff, and to inspire others to help with minimising waste usage and environment conservation in Hong Kong. Members of Star Anise's team discovered many plastic waste along the beach and rock formations at Shek O Beach, with large amounts of oil slicks on the rocks, and it became apparent that a lot of trash was left discarded, heavily polluting the local ecosystem. 

The team found this to be a fulfilling and educational experience, giving further thoughts on how we should, as a society, be responsible to clean up and protect the environment we live in.
