Star Anise presents legal career webinar to young lawyers

Star Anise Legal will be hosting the first webinar of the “Rebooting your Legal Career” series on, “Surviving and Thriving: navigating your legal career during tough times”. This webinar will share insights from experienced professionals in their respective industries on how to optimise your legal career, especially during these uncertain times, and come out on top.

The webinar, aimed at newly qualified and junior lawyers who want to be inspired and motivated, will be delivered on 7 October 2020 (Wednesday) at 6:00 p.m. Hong Kong time (BST +7), where accomplished leaders from the legal field in Hong Kong will discuss how to get through the economic ups and downs as a young professional and thrive to be one step ahead.

Star Anise Legal has previously co-hosted many seminars and webinars with different organisations. This webinar series will be the first to be hosted solely by Star Anise and invite legal industry experts to shed light on how to “reboot your legal career”.

Alfred Ip is a Hong Kong solicitor who qualified in 2000 and co-founded Hugill & Ip in 2018. He is a member of the STEP, and Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a CEDR Accredited Mediator, as well as a Notary Public. He has been recognised as a leading individual in dispute resolution by the Chambers & Partners Asia Pacific and he has also received several awards from the Law Society of Hong Kong, including a Gold Award for his pro bono initiative, “FreeWill”, by serving the community.

Gill Meller is a seasoned legal professional having joined MTR in 2004; she is responsible for the provision of commercial legal support and advice to all aspects of the company’s business. Gill is also the Vice-Chairman of the Legal Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Standing Committee on Company Law Reform, and the President and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries.

Deanna Wong is the founder of DeLab Consulting Limited that offers client-driven IP services, and prior to starting her consultancy, Deanna led the Greater China practice of an international law firm. Qualified in Hong Kong in 2002, Deanna has been recommended by many legal directories, including Legal500, Chambers, and World Trade Mark Review for her expertise.
