A team from legal recruitment firm Star Anise participated in an afternoon of food preparation at the charity organisation, Food Angel, as part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility. At the venue in Kowloon's Lai Chi Kok, recruiters and administrative staff from Star Anise got together to peel, chop and wash a variety of vegetables, ready for cooking into nutritious meals to be served at the Food Angel central kitchen to underprivileged members of the community.

Assistant Office Manager, Firenze Ho, described her experience, “Though it was a monotonous process, I found it a really meaningful activity to help with our community. Not only does it serve a great purpose to help reduce starvation among the most vulnerable people in Hong Kong, it also helps to reduce waste and make the unwanted part of vegetables into organic fertiliser for farming!”

Consultant Christy Ho added, “It was an afternoon well spent giving back to society, and bonding with colleagues!”

Food Angel is a food rescue and food assistance programme launched in 2011 by  the Bo Charity Foundation, designed to take edible surplus food from the food industry that would otherwise be discarded, and preparing them as nutritious hot meals to the underprivileged communities in Hong Kong.
